LBR Take Out Division Two Championship, Place Fifth Overall.

The final round of the 2021 NSW Formula Vee Championship was held at Wakefield Park Raceway over the weekend where LBR Team Dockmate / Lowes Petroleum Service Formula Vee claimed the Division Two Championship while also placing 5th overall in the Motorsport Australia Formula Vee Open Championship and 5th in the 1600cc Club Championship.

The weekend presented some challenging conditions following a week of heavy rain. The track was both dry and wet with water running across the track in critical areas including turns and breaking zones. Despite this the LBR #18 Polar took to the track and qualified P12 in a field of 22 cars.

Race one was held in cool conditions making it difficult to get any meaningful tire temperature only adding to the lack of grip. After a great start we made our way up to P9h place by the fourth turn where we came under significant pressure from the field behind. Succumbing to the pressure we had a spin on lap four coming out of a wet corner which left us running in last position. The #18 was able to claw back four positions across the remaining six laps to finish P18.

Race two was held first thing on Sunday morning in similar conditions but this time we started from P16 where we settled into the race however on the second last lap we were involved in a racing incident that resulted in a rear right puncture requiring us to retire the car. After being towed back to the pits and with the assistance of one of our fellow competitors, #54 Leigh Porter, we fitted a new wheel and were ready to take to the track for race three.

After a challenging weekend we were aiming just to finish the race in order to collect points to help in our overall championship battles. The final race of the year saw us start from P17 in cool but dryer conditions, but after a very poor start we dropped back to P19, forcing us

to fight back to finish P15 from a field of 21 starters.

At the end of the weekend, we had scored enough points to take out the Division Two title and finish a respectable 5th place across our other two categories. We would like to thank our sponsors Dockmate Australia & New Zealand and Lowes Petroleum Service, without their support racing would be more difficult. We would also like to thank our supporters that have offered encouragement and support throughout the year and we would also like to thank our fellow Formula Vee NSW competitors and members who we have built strong friendships with both on and off the track.

The 2022 season kicks off at Wakefield Park in February, but in the meantime, we would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
