Round 2 of the 2021 NSW Formula Vee Championship was held at Sydney Motorsport Park over the weekend of 10-11 April that saw a smaller field of 14 cars enter after a number of competitors committed to competing in the Australian Series throughout 2021.
LBR entered both the #17 Lowes Petroleum Jacer and the #18 Team Dockmate Polar however due to illness only the #18 took to the track but with great results. After putting in two hot laps during qualifying, Paul, in the #18 Team Dockmate Formula Vee, set a personal best time moving into the 1m53s to qualify fifth, his best result to date.
Race 1 was held on Saturday afternoon in sunny conditions in what was a 10 lap 40km race that saw Paul finish where he started in fifth place.
Sunday was a cooler and windy day that played host to races two and three. Race two provided the closest racing of the weekend after Paul chased down Leigh Porter in the #54 that saw the two tailing each other throughout the race after multiple position changes with the strong effect of slipstreaming on the main straight. While running in fourth place Paul misses a downshift coming into turn two which saw the #54 car snatch back fourth place and put five car lengths between the two leaving the LBR Team Dockmate car to again finish in fifth position.
Race three was very similar to race one with most cars finishing in the same position they started meaning that LBR collected three fifth place finished across the weekend resulting in a solid points haul that has catapulted the #18 Team Dockmate car in to the lead of the Division 2 competition and fifth position overall in the NSW Open State Championship.
The next round will be held at Wakefield Park, Goulburn over the weekend of 22-23 May which will be followed by a day/night race meeting at Sydney Motorsport Park in June.
